Default I7 965 EE 4ghz OC (Check my temps )

Hey,

I am looking for a little bit of feedback here,

I just did a 4Ghz OC

I7 965 EE ( CoolMaster V8 )
X58-UD5
Corsair Dominator 3x1gb 1600mgz 8-8-8-24(stock)

Now the settings i used for the OC

QPI x36
Uncore x 13
Bclk x 166
SPD x 6

Turbo and all power saving options turned off but left HT on.

CPU Vcore Volt 1.4000
QPI/VTT Volt auto ( i was going to set 1.515v - But it wasnt needed )

Now i ran Super PI 32mb test and Prime95 for 10 mins( i know i need to leave it a bit longer, But i was checking temps)

This is my question.

I am running

RealTemp = 75c
CoreTemp = 73c
EasyTun6 = 50c

And as you can see from the screen shot, They are giving me different temps at the same time. Them temps are while running prime95 at max load.

So what temps do i use.

-----------------------------

Also would this be classed as stable to run? and should i enable the power management opens aswell as the Turbo?

Thanks for reading

realtemp is usually the best. I use the beta, 3.30. I find it to be better than the non-beta 3.0

EasyTune would probably report CPU Tcase temps, which is a different thing than core temps.

Thanks for the reply.

I have dropped the CPU Vcore down to 1.3733 anything under that just crash's the system.

I have also run a LinX 0.6.4 x20 and got no errors,

Now that the 4ghz is stable(ish) Would you recommend i re enable the Turbo and the power saving options in BIOS?

I would keep the power saving stuff off. Sometimes your overclock is a bit more stable with them off.

I recommend running Prime95 when you're ready to test if its stable, LinX isn't exactly the "one test". It can find out if your oc is unstable faster than prime95, but isn't always the best at finding out. 8-12 hours on each test is good.

ok i was playing around with my fans, After some t/s i have put two more 120mm fans in the case, the temps are about 3c lower. So i am hitting 72C in prime.

I will leave Prime running over night.

Thanks for the feed back
