I'm working on the group assignment about the history of the microprocessors and I've chosen to write the part about modern CPUs starting from about 2002 till today. The only problem is that after doing some research I can't really find any reliable resources (i.e. books) that cover any newer CPU's. Most of them only go as far as 2000. So far I've only managed to find several online resources with more up to date information and of course there are some documents on manufacturers websites.
__________________I would really appreciate any help with books, articles, links or whatever that could help me with my research. I'm interested in everything from AMD Athlon and Intel Pentium 4 till today, including the latest developments or even some predictions for the future. That also includes any non Intel/AMD CPUs like ARM, server chips or the CPU/GPU stuff like larrabee. Thanks.

It would really depend on the level of 'reliability' required of your sources. Some educational institutions require you to only use academic sources such as peer-reviewed journals (paper or electronic), books or other appropriate sources of information. I'm guessing since you are having difficulty finding reliable sources, that you probably cannot cite tech sites with various articles on the matter as references.
My first suggestion would be to try to search for various journals relevant to the topic (microprocessors, electrical engineering) using a search engine/portal which gathers results from several databases. I know my university provides free access to such services (which usually cost some amount to use iirc) and if such an option is available to you I think that would probably work. If that's not possible, you may also want to consider searching up white papers on all the various microprocessors released during that time period, although I imagine that would be very time-consuming and probably less fruitful. Unfortunately that's all I can think of for now, maybe someone else has some good ideas as well. Hope that helps, and best of luck with your assignment!

Well, tech sites articles would be sort of useful, maybe not as a direct reference, but definitely as a source of knowledge which I could use. Thanks for suggesting journals, I'll definitely have a look into that.

http://www.maximumpc.com/article/fea...x86?page=0%2C6 Not the greatest, but it's something to get you started. It only has two pages involving the time period you are looking at, but it does cover what the major cpu releases have been, just not in technical detail. It also only covers consumer micro processors (x86 chips) so if you are looking for information on ARM's processors etc you'll have to keep searching. Once again, all the best!
