Default Intel CPU uCode Loading Error, what to do?

Hello guys,

I just bought an Intel P4 2.66Hhz, LGA775 (566Mhz) and I've installed it to a Asus P5VD1-X motherboard.

Everytime the computer loads up (NO Opertating System), it keeps giving me this error: "Intel CPU uCode Loading Error" - "Press F1 To Resume".

I don't understand? Where have i gone wrong? The bios of the Mboard recognizes the CPU, it currently states "Intel P4 @ 2.66Ghz, 566Mhz FSB".

Please Help,

I will appreciate the service

1st off, your processor has 533FSB, not 566. If your motherboard says it is 566, there is something wrong (bug or something else) Now, you have an intresting motherboard, it is a PCIe AGP combo board which is definitly bound to have problems. What is your graphics card? Is it AGP or PCIe? Your problem probably lies within your GFX card because of your motherboard.

Yes! update the bios, I was about to recommend that. If you update that, It will probably give a lot of added support to gfx cards and new processors released by intel.

Edit: also, do you know what your intel spec # is? Because the latest 506 released supports EM64T. here

WOWZA,

The Intel Spec Numbers are:

Pentium 4 Processor 506, LGA775
2.66Ghz, 1MB L2-Cache, 533 Mhz FSB

Yes, it is 506... could that be the problem? because i've been to an Asus Support forum and everyone says to update the BIOS because the motherboard does not recognize the new CPU model, which in this case is: Intel P4 506.

See if you can help any further, thanks for the service.

Cosssack

wait, I know the specs, but do you know what the spec # is? (It is on the processor, and on the side of the box) it is either, SL7YU or SL85U or SL8J8. That's what I need, then I can tell you exactly what's wrong

WOWZA,

Or i could just try upgrading my BIOS, plus enable the cpu microcode update setting in my MB BIOS..

That sounds reasonable?

Thanks,

Cossack

re: above question

I think it's the bios, but I want to be 100% shure this is a bios problem before you do anything.
