I would reset the CMOS of the motherboard and leave everything at default values. Just be sure that the default setting of HT on the BIOS is enabled (it should be by default as it is a plug & play setting).

Then a brand new install of the OS. Do not install anything other than the motherboard drivers.

Is there still a single processor? If so, then you need to test your processor on another system to see if the other system sees the HT dual processor. If the other system sees it then the problem is the motherboard. If the other system does not see it then the problem is (my first choice) the processor and RMA is in order.

Wait wait wait, you dont have a HT CPU, that CPU is a 511 which is a P4 2.8 533mhz FSB. That CPU does not support Ht. Not at all. Thats the problem, your CPU is not a HT. If it was actualy the 521 then you wouldnt have a problem.

Buy the way that CPU might read as a mulity CPU in your device manager, but it is actualy just a single CPU without HT.

It does read it as a Multi CPU and Device manager.

I know that, but that fact be known it does not support HT. If you were to do a CPU benchmark in Sandra it would say the same thing, however the CPU can not be changed to use HT. I hate to say it but thats the truth. Your CPU doesn not have Hyper Threading .

Here are the specs for your CPU.

Model
Brand Intel
Series Pentium 4
Model BX80547PE2800EN
CPU Socket Type
CPU Socket Type LGA 775
Tech Spec
Core Prescott
Name Pentium 4 511
Operating Frequency 2.8GHz
FSB 533MHz
L1 Cache 12KB+16KB
L2 Cache 1MB
Process Type 90 nm
Hyper-Threading Support No
64 bit Support Yes
Multimedia Instruction MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3
Voltage 1.25-1.4V

It reads it because we forced it to read it that way. You need to reverse my (Wrong) instructions and set it back to a uniprocessor pc.

I took you saying it was an 800MHz fsb to be correct. I should have checked with the numbers (511) to see for certain.

Good work Adeoliver
