P4 and PD sales will continue without any problems.

LOL, I guess cause it helps. hahahah. Man the fastest Super PI that we have in some thread was like 19 secs? And it was something like 6879 MHz Pentium 4? And you had to do dry-ice.

My only other experience with a high-end processor was with a pretty fast P4. This opty is new to me and it just doesn't feel as "snappy". SOme lag might be due to the fact I am at the far end of the DSL hub (the company gives us the next-higher level of service for free to compensate), but it still feels like I wait a lot for programs to launch, etc...

Welll, I had a Pentium 4 3.60ghz overclocked at 4.32ghz and when I saw what Conroe could do, I immediately sold my 3.60ghz for $200 (bought it for $200) and got a Celeron D for $50, now I have plenty of cash to get a Conroe 2.40ghz and I already got my MoBo and RAM, now onto get Conroe and the PCP&P Silencer 750W.
Pentium Ds and Pentium 4s are pointless to invest in one right now, if any the E6300 and E6400 is a much better deal than those mentioned before. |

Yes, but the point is, the average consumer doesn't know all this. They'll see Core 2 E6600 at 2.4 Ghz and a PD 915 at 2.8 Ghz and think "Hey! That 915 must be alot faster than the E6600 because the number is bigger!"

For example, if the User is encoding/decoding a full-length DVD or playing some high-end game like HALO 2, isn't that different from a User that is waiting for browser windows to close and routing apps (like outlook express to launch). My question is, when comparing 2 high-end systems (Intel vs. AMD) is it possible that one might be better at some things while the other is better at others ? If this IS true, then which is better for most people that do not require massive amounts of data being processed quickly? What if the User only needs small amounts of data processed instantly. I am wondering if the Intel processor might be better suited to those in the second class.

I guess it's time for intel to suck up and start explaining that Mhz are not always good.
