Default Intel wont POST. ????

So, I am a huge fan of AMD, however, my gf is more partial to Intel. I am giving her an Intel spare rig that I had. However, it will not POST. I formatted the 150g in it, and installed windows on my comp for it. That didnt work....I formatted again, and it wont accept the disc. Question - it is asking me for a start up disc, do I need it or no? I have tried everything in BIOS that would pertain to my problem, however, no fix. I guess i should just go ahead and try making a start up disc, shouldnt i?

Are you using a windows xp UPGRADE or FULL VERSION disk? Upgrade disks wont work on completely empty hard drive.

it is a full version. However, it wont boot from CD for some reason either so I dont know whats going on. The only things its really told me is that I need a start up disc. I didnt think I should need one. Perhaps I will format again, then partition it, then try again.

Hmm... Very strange. Your cdrom working fine? Try a disk to disk if you have a program to do that with, I used a program called MaxFlash4 from maxtor.com to disk to disk while still on my pc logged in. Very helpful program.

I will try that, as I will need to do the same thing with my Asus drives for my mobo, as MY computer wont read them.

I try to boot from CD, but it wont let me. I tried installing windows XP on the HDD from my computer, but it wont boot...it only says "error finding OS". I cannot figure this out for the life of me.
