Well basically i can't go past 3.2Ghz at the moment as im at 1.4125v vCore and im at 52c load, and don't want to go higher volts/temps.
So i was working on getting the FSB as high as possible, and keeping the cpu at 3.2Ghz. I'm currently running 355*9 and my rig works fine. But when i try and run 400*8 my motherboard sets the PCI-E speed to x1. ![]() This has a massive impact on my FPS in games and reduces BF2142 from about 70~110fps to a mere 15fps. I'm not sure if this is just an issue with 400+ fsb, or teh fact im using a lower-than-stock multipler. I can't really find out which is causing it either, as i can't run 400*9 What could be causing this? I've got my PCI-E set to 100 in BIOS, and PCI set to 33.33. Also, i've done a clean install of my gfx drivers with the 93.71 drivers, and its the same. Another weird thing, those drivers were meant to fix the thing were it labels the 7900GT as "7900GT/GTO". And yes, i did a clean install by running DC Pro in safemode, etc.

Have you tried raising the PCI-E to say, 101 or 102?

I notice the same problem if I OC too far. The test I quickly use too see if the OC will work, is open AM3 and if get 300fps, it will work. However, I may get a mere 150. That goes for the same thing in any game. Fear=14 frames, 3dmark06=15frames. It's like the system gets bound up. I believe its a memory issue as it happened alot while fooling with memory timings. Pauldovi also complained with this problem as I am, so you are not alone.

When i was using 400FSB i was running 1:1 4-4-4-12-25 @ 2.15v
When i was using 450FSB i was running 1:1 5-5-5-15-25 @ 2.15v My RAM has Micron D9GMH ICs and is rated at PC2-6400 4-4-4-12-22 @ 2.1v~2.2v Quote:
Will go and try running it at 400*8 with the PCI-E at 102, and if that doesn't work i'll try running the RAm at ultra-loose timings, like 6-6-6-xx, lol.

Changing the PCI-E to 102Mhz didn't make any difference.
Gonna try looser RAM timings / more volts.

Well, after going back from 102 PCI-E to 100 and, loosening my timings to 6-6-6-18-30 i couldn't get into windows, and at one point got a BSOD after the windows loading screen.
I think this was because of the timings, as once i set them to 5-5-5-15-25 i got into windows without trouble. Still running in x1 though ![]() Gonna go try upping the vDIMM. EDIT: tryed 5-5-5-15 @ 2.25v, still in x1
