Hi all,
__________________I started having problems a couple of days ago, first, when I re-start the pc I get a found new hardware wizard screen for the audio device and my sound card is not recognized (Sounblaster XFI Music). I have no sound, I have removed and re-installed the card, and still have the same problem. This morning I reformated my hard drive, re-installed Windows and I am still having the same problems. Any advice?

Your PC might still be using the integrated audio. See in the BIOS somewhere if there is an option to turn off the integrated audio.

Or maybe your soundcard is just going bad. It happened to me with a brand new Audigy card back in 2001, had to get a replacement quick.
Other thing you may want to do (just in case) install SP2 or if already in it? try the CD software and then download the latest drivers from the creative website. Or you could see if it's an IRQ issue, just put the card in a different PCI slot and/or go ahead and disable some of the things that could take up an IRQ, such as the firewire controller, the 2nd PCI-Lan port/controller, serial port, disable Wi-Fi "if" you don't use it. All of those things could case that the card may not be recognize properly in the IRQ setting. |
