Exclamation Minimum Specs for Vista:

Well, I looked at several sites to find out what would maximize the performance of Vista Ultimate. Those include PC World and Microsoft. They both say different things about Vista's requirements, but to get it to run AS FAST as XP, it requires these specs:

Ultimate:

CPU- Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 or AMD Athlon FX-62
RAM- 2GB DDR2 800
GPU- GeForce 8800GTS 640MB or ATI R600 (Until release, the X1950XTX would be fine)
HDD- 250Gb 7200 RPM 16Mb Cache or 150Gb Raptor...ooooo

Home Premium:

CPU- Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 or AMD Athlon X2 5200+
RAM- 1GB DDR2 667
GPU- GeForce 8800GTS 320MB or ATI X1950XTX
HDD- 250Gb 7200 RPM 16MB Cache

Home Basic:

CPU- Intel Pentium D 930 or AMD Athlon X2 3800+
RAM- 1Gb DDR2 533
GPU- GeForce 7900GT 256Mb or ATI X1950 PRO
HDD- 160Gb 7200 RPM 16MB Cache

I did not have a lot of testing time, and my brother would only let me use so many parts. (He is 34 and owns his own new and used part store). I really hope this will help anyone who wants to upgrade to Vista. I would have only tested out Intel and nVidia, but those fanboys...

I am willing to bet it isn't running as fast as XP would.

I have high ratings on all my stuff except for my GPU, but thats because its integrated. Other then that I have high ratings on everything. Other wise I have 5.0 on my hdd, 4.9 on processor, and 4.5 on ram. But I have to retest though because I didn't run it windows did, and that was before I had the new drivers.

EDIT- Just ran the test again with the proper drivers and I raised my score .7 on the Aero test and .2 on the gaming test
