Hi guys, this is a cry for help, so not sure where to put it (has a 'Help!' sub forum been suggested before? :P) as its not intel/amd etc specific.
Basically, in trying to fit my TBT as replacement to stock core 2 duo e6600 heatsink and fan, i realised i didnt have some parts and have simply put back the stock heatsink and fan. Problem is - now the pc boots, posts, and begins loading windows (but doesnt reach the winxp screen) then it takes longer than it should and suddenly powers itself off. If i then try to power up again, everything sounds as if its ok, but thereis no signal to the montior so i cant see the boot process (there are no warning beeps) and then it powers itself off again after maybe 20 seconds. Im stumped here.. ive reseated the heatsink twice, checked all connections and reseated gfx and memory. all fans are working. Im wondering if its temperature related and its an auto safety shutdown, but it seemed a little quick for that and no reason if all is seated correctly. Or maybe its gfx related, but why would it load and display on monitor the first time but not the second? ARgh.. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Go into the bios and check your temps. Try a CMOS reset by taking the battery out for a minute.

update, ok, i realised you just have to press the little lever inwards to the card, so i can take it out. Ill take out the agp card from this other rig (dont have a 2nd pci-e card) and try it, so ill be offline for a wee while while i test.
edit - ROFL!! no AGP slot on my mobo :O cant test it.. but yea...seems like it may be the gfx card...*wince* Is there not a bios warning beep when the card is faulty? update.. the system is no longer powering itself down... but i cant get any signal to either monitor ive tried.

Have you tried booting with 1 stick of memory. Maybe one of your sticks is bad. That's what happened to me.
