Alright, so my friend got his celeron D cedar mill and GA-965P-S3. He was easily able to obtain 4.8Ghz on stock voltage, but doesn't seem to go beyond that. We've tried pumping up the voltage up to .1V extra but it doesn't help. Also we don't know what to set the memory subtimings to so we kinda set them randomly...
Any suggestions? EDIT: Temps are 21C idle and 42C load, and 4.8Ghz prime stable. EDIT2: I should also mention that beyond 4.8Ghz is prime stable but programs crash left and right!

No more quicktime events!

Can we see a screenshot of that? I'd love to see this thing in action if it's on stock voltages!

There must be an error, you cannot overclock that high staying on stock, do you mean 3.8?

What is the multiplier? It has to be extremely high for it to be reaching such a speed.

I would question those temps unless he has that celeron water cooled and I imagine he doesn't.
21c is 69.8F So unless his room is about 55F, that idle temp is invalid. If you post your friends complete specs, someone may be able to help more.

believable for sure, I had a Celeron D 356 at 5ghz with 1.45vcore.
The 356 and 360 are overclocking champs

Yeah... the multiplyer is 24X so 200FSB X 24 = 4800Mhz. Also he got the freezer 7 pro cooler that has 6 heatpipes and such... plus he lives in a really cold and old house with no heating in his room.
I don't exactly remeber most of the other specs... but I know the ram is DDR667. Currently it's major underclocked to avoid any possible instability though. He's coming over in about an an hour an a half so I can get any screenshots and detailed specs you might need.

Maybe from there it needs more then .1v extra. Have you tried that?

Yes, but it behaves exactly the same as with stock voltage. It will boot up fine and pass prime all day but programs just crash about every minute or so... it's wierd! Sometimes explorer.exe crashes... sometimes iexplore, sometimes notepad, everest, cpuz, and rarely even prime crashes but never gets an error.
