Default Just put my rig together, have an issue

Hey guys, ok so i just put a brand new rig together, everything new except for the hard drive. its a maxtor, basically brand new. anyways it boots up fine, but after the bios screen and all it gives a 'boot error detected insert system disk and press enter' or something.

now when i went into bios it wasn't showing a cdrom drive..Also for the hardrive the name shows a bunch of a's with accents on top, and says its 56gb or something? lol Whats the issue? i didn't touch the jumper behind the dvddrive when i got it either..

Try to reset the bios (there should be a jumper on the motherboard).

If that doesn't work, do a fresh OS install (repair). Then reinstall drivers etc.

reseting the cmos shouldnt be the issue cuz everything is brand new.. ill try it but about the jumpers..

Ive got the hard drive and cd drive on the same IDE cable, and left the jumpers alone.. i have no clue how to set up jumpers or master/salve stuff..

i tried to do a fresh install but it wouldn't let me, i couldn't boot into the windows setup. the cd boot device wouldn't show up

sometimes boards need to be reset when you get htem...

if you ahve the hard drive and cdrom drive on the same cable..1 needs to be set to master and the otther slave or you will get a **** load of problems..it isnt hard

normally just involves moving the jumper over 1 spot..look up your drives on the internet and how to change it

Reset the bios like he said, you can pull the battery and unplug the power supply for a few seconds. when it starts go into the bios and set the boot sequence to "C" first. If that don't do it, it is a reinstall, also like they said reseat all connections, also try putting the jumper on the HDD to master.

either 1 it doesnt matter..

just as long as there not the same

you may want to invest in a sata hard drive so you dont ahve to worry about that issue because i think you do lose some performance when you ahve a cd drive and hd on the same ide cable..when installing programs and stuff off of cds.......not 100% postive tho
