Default $500 CPU+RAM+mobo+gfx

Conroe overclocker for a friend, currently has a 6800 not sure what kind, but would like to give him a nice shock in this upgrade, so far the best I could do was a 550, Idk if anyone can do better, maybe I am missing something, but the conroe really ups the price a bit

Edit: I think he will be runnin XP

Ah you're right. My bad. LoL. I'm not EXACTLY sure about 1.3 and bios, I just know the 2.0 is a great overclocker, 3.3 is the most recent w/1333mhz FSB support for future mods.

Anyone want to validate the 1.3 as a decent overclocker with udpated bios?

Just re-calculated: With my build you can do E6320 I think and still sit at about 500. even or just a tad above.

between 7900GS and 7600GT i would defianantly spend the money and get a 7900GS

and the ram. The second one will probably overclock well for very high overclocks. More modest overclocks could probably be achived with the ram i selected.
