Default overclock multiplier help??

hey again.

i have overclocked my core 2 duo 1.86GHz E6320 to a healthy 2.45GHz. but when i use the "Lavalys" everest ultimate cpu monitor it displays that my cpu multiplier is going up and down from 6x to 7x. i thought that it should remain at 7x always? as this makes my cpu speed go down to 2.0ghz at 6x multipiler but up to 2.45ghz at 7x??

is this normal? and is there a way to get it to stay at 7x multiplier, the fsb displays at 30% overclock continually but the cpu speed when its at 7x multiplier is a 30% overclock however drops to 11% when its at 6x? i have tried various bios features but to no avail. the system im using is as it is on my profile below.

rep for any help as always

cheers

Lauvan

Disable all CPU "settings" in the BIOS except VT.
It's dropping the multi to save power - it should drop the voltage as well. You don't want that. Messes with OCs. At the very least turn off SpeedStep. It's Intel's version of Cool & Quiet.

Turn off anything that says C1E, EIST, or speedstep. I dont think there is a speedstep option in your bios if they are anything like mine.

VT = Virtualization Tech
Leave it on if you need it. Turn it off if you don't. I need more volts to be stable with it than with it off.

With it off, VMWare gives errors about VT off. VMWare requires Virtualization support. I'll go with Virtualization Technology.
