Default Hardware Problems?

A few days back, my graphics card wasn't displaying anything, so, under the assumtion it was dead, I used my old computer. Well, I couldn't believe my fate, so, I rewired my computer, making sure everything was where it needed to be, and tada! It booted! Then, of course, since I had a fan still not plugged in, I shut it off, then, I have to hit the power switch like 10 times before it works now! This is a brand new computer shouldn't be having stupid problems like that.

Remove al unnecesary devices (even HDD's) and see if it posts at once now.

Also remove your battery for like 12 hours. (I hear it works if the shorting jumper does'nt.)

If it does'nt work after that it's most likely your mobo having problems starting (if so it also should mostly have problems soft booting)

It works now. I'm on it atm, however, I think that may have been it, because, I have pretty heavy specs, if it happens again, I'm gonna pop out a gig of ram see if thats it, shouldn't be tho, I have the ram overvolted.

As for this whole soft/hard booting, whats the difference, how do I do each?

Soft (warm) or Hard (cold) booting is like this:

Soft booting is simply pressing the reset button or having windows restart your pc.

Hard booting is realy shutting it of and on again.

of course hard (cold) booting is more effective.

yeah, if ur soft booting ur mobo isnt ruined or anything, i would try taking out all your peripherals and unneccesary stuff. if it boots, then plug things in piece by piece and see what doesnt wor. itll take a while but its definetely worth it.

I figured I have fairly no-BS system, peripherals being DVD-RWs/HDDs? I obviously cant take out my VGA, considering, I can't see anything without it, but I have a feeling that might be whats wrong. Other than that, theres nothing in my system.
