There are plenty of people on this site that have built multiple rigs just to fold with. When you have a real job, spending $2,000 to 3,000 every few years to spend on your hobby isn't much money. Not to mention it's fun to build stuff, and it helps out with the research.

Uh... I OC'd my processor from a FSB of 266 to a FSB of 333 (2.13 GHz to 2.67 GHz). It dropped my time from 25 minutes for every 1% to 18 minutes for every 1%.

That's a difference of 500 PPD and that's only on my Dual Core E6400.

Does anyone here really believe that if they find a cure for cancer through Folding that it'll be used if it costs less than the current Cancer treatments?

Sorry but doctors and hospitals make a TON of cash off of radiating people until they go bald, then Rogaine slips them money under the table for radiating people so they can boost the sales of their hair loss product, and finally more money is slipped under the table by companies who produce medication to help with your white cell count.

Combine that with the profit gained from Medical Marijuana, Advil, Aspirin, and anything else you can possibly think of and you have one huge cash cow.

If folding leads to the discovery of a simple shot or vaccination that costs $150 then guess what? Its going in the trash...

Like I said, it all depends on how these events turn out, I definitely support folding 100% but IMO its not going to lead anywhere.
