illl just ignore nechen. not getting into that.

but wouldnt a Q6600 fold about the same (if not more) than the Xeon? Not to mentio nthe Q6600 is cheaper.

the ps3 is good for folding because there are tons more hours when the ps3 goes unused rather than used. so crack F@H on the ps3 and when you're not using it, go nuts. i plan on doing that when i get my ps3.

The X3210 is $280 and the Q6600 is usually around $300. There is an open box on newegg for $260, however, open box CPUs on newegg means that it didn't overclock very high. (there is a 15% restocking fee, remember that if you try to buy and return from newegg)

I have 5 dedicated folding rigs sitting under my desk right now. The extra cost in electricity bills is minimal. I calculated it as only about an extra $10/month.

It gives a decent boost. Running at 3.6GHz, changing the SMP client from 90% CPU utilization to 100% knocks a 15 minute segment to 13 minutes. When you're running 24/7 that'll knock off about 3 hours off a work unit.
