I wouldn't get a quad core just for folding. I'd get a Conroe-L and a X19** or some other card that can fold. Will be better than any quad core folding wise

You can scratch the case and build your own from the boxes that's included

Also, a 1GB stick would suffice

Make sure you sandpaper the hole, and then put some U rubber over it to avoid sharp edges. Put some grease around the newly drilled hole, and then screw your computer, screw it hard. Maybe install some UV lights and turn em up to indicate that your computer is also excited.

RAM speed plays a HUGE role in folding speed, so I would go back to DDR2 and get the highest rated speed you're willing to spend money on.

Someone on the first page stated that overclocking does not affect folding speed, hell yes it does. roughly, for every 300mhz increase in CPU speed is a 30 second decrease in folding time per percent of 2605 WU's. Compared to every 100mhz increase in RAM speed will decrease time/per percent of the same WU's by 20 seconds. (at least from the testing I did a few months ago)

CAS latency does not seem to have any noticeable affect on time/per percent
