havin a ram crysis atm,got 2gb already in, just got another 2gb in the mail and tried slappin it into my comp but it dont want to have it, ive manged to get into windows but thats it, im in for about 30 seconds and freeze, was thinking ive ever got duff sticks or a duff 2 and 4 ram slot, so i tried the ram ive had for about 2 weeks now in the 2 and 4 slots and the slots work fine, so i was thinkin duff modules, tried the new modules in the 1 and 3 slot the modules work fine, put the older ram in the 2 and 4 slot and nout, it will boot but get stuck on the vista loading bar.., not a pro pc'er so any help would be appericated :/
__________________yea btw the ram slots are exactly simllar, same timings, both pc6400, same part number, idectntical. I havent run memtest tho i have run the vista memory check, i know its not very intense a test but if there were duff im sure that would pick up on it.

Sounds like a board problem to me.
When you put the extra two sticks in. Is your mobo setting the voltages back to auto? This defaults voltages back to 1.9V on the P5N32 I am just taking shots in the wind here, but sometimes it is the most simple things that we overlook ![]()

The 680i memory controller doesnt seem to like 4 sticks of memory. It varies board to board, but I have seen this problem over and over again at the eVGA forums, and here as well.
There are some things to try: Update Bios Source: Toms Hardware Forums This poster has a MSI 680i board... Quote:
This is not an option in all bios, but in some, there is an option to allow all 4 GB to work. Good Luck!

Turing Test is Overrated

Install this hotfix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929777/en-us
The 680i runs the Storport miniport driver
