Default what am I doing wrong? (overclock n00b)

Alright, I just recently moved to a nice new computer from old crap i could scrounge from work as as a computer technician for free. Anyway, I noticed that my new Intel core2 duo e6320 runs pretty cool and it has a lot of room for overclocking. However, apparently I'm not as good at overclocking this dual-core contraption as I am with those old ancient single cores. I'm using a cube pc running a micro mobo, a msi g31m, and i have a supertalent 2gb 800mhz ram stick. The thing is, when I go into my bios, i'm confused by many things:

1. my multiplier only shifts between 6 and 7, and that's it. is that normal?

2. the processor advertises a frequency of 1.86ghz and a FSB of 1066, and my motherboard can do 1333 FSB, but in the tab of my bios where i can adjust the FSB it's set to 266 with a multiplier of 7 (or 1.86 ghz total) by default. huh?

So anyway, here's how i'm overclocking right now:

I put the ram ratio to the lowest bios setting (1:1.25) and upped the cpu and ram voltages to 1.65 and 2.05 respectively. Then I started messing with the frequencies. I found out the follwing:

1. my computer will not run when my ram is above 900mhz, apparently. also, my processor seems to have a threshold as well of about 310mhz x 7 or so. When my ram frequency is too high, my light on my monitor never turns green, the computer just sits there, but when the cpu goes over the post speaker just beeps over and over.

2. about the highest fsb frequency I could get without my computer bluescreening or locking up was about 305 x 7, but not because of heat, (i have a sensor attached to the cpu heatsink that shows on my case) it would simply just hang during the post and/or startup sequence

so what am i doing wrong? am i overlooking something? does my bios just suck? is 2.1ghz really the best I can get out of that thing? I've stressed it on 2.1ghz and it still only reads about 40 C on the heatsink.

geez back down the v-core 1.65 is way to high, you shouldnt need no more than 1.45 at the highest god what are your temps download core temp,cpu-z and orthos for stressing, put ram voltage back to 2.0 that should be enough, try running mem test make a bootable cd and change to boot from cd and run over night,in the bios disable speed step ,your pc wont run because your temps must be to high at 1.65 your not going for 4.0 ghz are you, that where i would start

might want to add your system specs if you really want advise
