Default did my pc die?
so here are the symptoms

turn on pc - shuts off in 5 seconds

if it doesnt shutoff in 5 seconds, all i get is a black screen

red LED stays red ( the one that turns red when the pc is working )


what i did before hand...
the pc was working fine, i took it apart so i could paint the case, we painted teh inside of the case with a chrome paint, then i put the pc back together. it turned on and stayed on... the light stayed red... then i took out the cpu and saw some dust, cleaned it, then put new thermal paste on it, artic silver 5. now it shuts off within 5 seconds, almost exactly everytime.. but when it doesnt, as i said, the screen stays black, and the led next to the green power LED stays red...

How much thermal paste did you apply? It does sound like an overheating issue.

sounds like its overheating. Bad contact between the cpu cooler, and cpu

thats what i was also thinking, if not what else could it be? would ground have anything to do with it? since i painted the case.

a rice grain amount, only on the cpu though, nothing on the heatsink

make sure the pressure on the heatsink and cpu is nice and tight, the best it can get.

k alright so basically all it could be is overheating correct? nothing else, the psu, gpu, ram, everything is fine? black screen would be caused because the cpu is not doing its job because its overheating? because if this is true im going to buy a new heat sink and reapply the paste and what not.


i neeed a new heatsink cause i have the stock one and i just broke the clip o it moments ago, so now its definetly not fit tightly on the cpu
