Exclamation Computer will not POST.

To start off, last night my pc wouldn't load Xp and instead of reformatting, I decided to take it apart and clear out the dust as that normally causes alot of problems. But when I put back my Gfx card I noticed that some plugs weren't plugged in and I left them out as I didn't know where they belonged. This time when I tryed to use my pc when I pushed the button nothing happened, so I decided to take it all apart and start from scratch the next morning.

So this morning I invited my friend around who always helps well builds my pc for me, and when we put it all together we noticed that after we assembled it it would not POST. Which was annoying, as we think that my Gfx card might be broken, which is very expensive. We are quite sure all the plugs are in but it still doesn't seem to work. Any help would be much appreciated as if I don't fix it now I either have to buy a new Gfx card or take it to the computer shop who will charge me to tell me it's forked.

The fan spins and lights light up everything, there was no noise but it still doesn't show anything on the monitor.

If it was the GFX card then it should make 1 long beep followed by 3 short ones. That would indicate a vga error.

Does it make any noises? Any fans spin or lights come on either?

yea it sounds like something might be connected to the wrong spot or you might be shorting somewhere. I had the same problem and it actually turned out to be the mounting screws underneath the board shorting it.

I would go back over everything extremely carefully making sure the exact wires are in the right spt. Check to see if your ram is all the way etc. Stupid little things like that before you start thinking about a new card.

Well, as far as several people can see there are no plugs not plugged in that are needed, and by not needed I mean firewire, floppy etc.
Any other ideas?

Might be a case of take it apart again, make sure there are no screws rolling around in the case and rebuild it. A pain I know

Ah, the motherboard might be shorting itself out via the screws, we'll check that thanks.
