You would probably be better off getting a P35, better OCs and more stable.

The difference between those 2 boards is the north bridge, on the cheaper one its a 650i and on the more expensive one its a 680i.

I'd go for a P35-DS3L (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128059)

This RAM (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231122)

And that is only $179 so you have plenty of money for a GPU.

I'll look into the p35 mobos a little more since you say they're more stable.
I know the nb is different but what is are the downfalls of the 650 over the 680, and how is that ram better it has a higher latency?

650i is a little slower in everything, basically a budget version of the 680i

Well it's 4gb instead of the 2gb you picked out, but I guess it's your call with the RAM.

650i will work but doesn't have long live from here. I think it is better to go P35 or 780i if you plan to do SLI.

ok I'll not be going with the 650i then and I guess double the amount of ram is better than a few latency notches. im looking into the p35 mobos and they do seem to be better (and in more configurations) than the 600 series mobos.

p.s. anyone else notice how slow ocn is moving?

i'd go with a p35 board, a 2X1gb set of crucials, g.skills, or mushkins, an 8800gs and a decent 500w psu.
