Default Is my p4 dead??

Went to bed last night, everything working perfectly. Today...Dead! My p4 turns on, i think the hard drive is turning, lights are on, however there are no beeps, and the screen stays black! It wont do anything. I have not had the chance to update my cpu info here. Any ideas where to start?

Start by changing the thread title.

Then make sure the monitor is plugged in to the wall and the video card. Open the case up and make sure everything is connected properly. Try replacing the RAM and/or video card if you have a backup to rule those out. It could also be the PSU.

EDIT: As grunion suggested, you may want to clear the CMOS first by removing the little battery and moving the CMOS jumper to "clear" for a minute (then back to the normal position). Keep the PSU off and press the start button to clear any residual electricity. Then replace the battery and try booting it up.

clear your CMOS with the jumper or remove the bios battery for 10 minutes and put it back in and boot back up......

Yep, sounds like an issue with either the motherboard or the power supply. If the Clear CMOS doesn't work, I would suspect that either of those two components is dead.

Sadly enough, that could very well be true. It's too bad that motherboards seem to fail more often than other components (with the exception of RAM maybe). It probably just falls along the line of "the more parts something has, the bigger the odds that something will fail". Changing motherboards is a pain. Hopefully it's not that.
