Default New MSI P6NGM no bios screen or post.....?

*Please see my "Phoenix" build log in my sig for other hardware*

I got all the hardware up in the case for a pre-final build power up. Just put a formatted HDD in here to have something in there (at least see what the bios looks like) I jump the power pins (no switch yet) and the fans all come on, but the monitor light just flashes *on my monitor* no post screen or anything. I'm a n00b for hardware, so can anyone troubleshoot this?

I do have the cpu/ram/PSU all wired correctly, I know that much.

There's a speaker on the motherboard which should bleep once when you power it on, thats what mine does. Also look at the cpu support list just to check your P4 is on there

Heres my CPU, what do I read on it to tell if it's compatible? I have no experience reading batch codes, sorry.

Edit: Its the P6NGM-L board, if that changes anything.

I think (not totally sure) that you got Pentium 4 520 Prescott which is 'under testing' on the CPU support list.

I hope not,LOL. I mean this is only a temp CPU/ram. But it'd be nice to at least use it,haha. Anyone know for sure?

Also, just cleared CMOS, got the same result, no post, no signal to the monitor

A system speaker really would help. Then we would know what beep code its putting out.

Also just looked at your ram, and the board doesn't appear to support PC3200. That could be another potential problem but unless you've got some PC4200+ there's no way of testing.

If the computer does not beep at all, try disconnecting the power and completely removing the MoBo from the case. Place it on a cardboard surface and try it again. It could be EFI is somehow shorting the board out.

I have had that problem before: it powers up, yet does not beep at all and never POSTs.

Oh crap. Well then, that could help as well huh if it's not picking up any RAM. I got these as freebies from a friend until I get my E2xxx cpu and some good DDR2 ram so its no biggie if they wont work. I dont have any other ram to try so I guess this will wait until I get new cpu/ram or so.

Can I hook just any little speaker to the leads? I have some old speakers around here somewhere
