Default Well...Finally hit the benchmark I was hoping for

So - Over the last few weeks - I've had this number in my head for my 3dmark06 score. I've just been so sure I could get my system to 12k...but it seemed that every time I figured out how I was gonna get there - I just couldn't. Of course - I have everything in the world working against me:
A B3 Q6600
A 680i SE (NF63) board that doesn't OC Quads
An 8800GS (cause I just couldn't afford the GT or better)

So - My overclock abilities have been seriously limited by heat, FSB, and a watered down G92 card. But - somehow - I managed to get it today.

It took a FSB of 306 and GPU settings at 710/1775/1000....but I managed to hit 12124. Not bad - considering that the score was 8884 at totally stock speeds.

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=6399216

Anyway - I'm pretty proud of myself here and thought I would share.

Time to update the sig.

Doubtful he could get there with that motherboard, but a good score nonetheless with a GS and a B3.

Unfortunately , the SE edition of the 680i just doesn't support overclocking Quads. I can't get it to boot, let alone stay stable, after about 2.75GHz. Heat has not really been a prob - I idle right around 45c and never shoot above 60c (ambient is 37c). The B3 at least is maxed at 95c - so I'm far away from the scary end there. The GPU gets hot at that OC though (idle @ 50c and load at 74c) so I don't see myself going much further there.

Not bad though considering stock on the GS is 580/1450/700

When I have a little more cash-flow...I plan on grabbing an A1 or even a 780i. When I bought the SE, I was only paying attention to the 3rd PCI-E slot (which the other 680I boards didn;t have) and didn't really consider the OC-ability with the quad.

It was just killing me though to see the "Common Systems" at 11400 and mine just under that.
