Mem stable, (memtest), cpu stable(orthos) all for long periods of time


When i play Call of duty for, in the middle of the game, ill get a hang up.. like a pause for 1-2 seconds.. w/weird sound from headset, then it goes back... when this happens 90percent of the time.. i lose my microphone abilities.

asus rampage(just installed)
8400e cpu 4.0ghz x8
9800gtx
ballistics 1000mhz
soundblaster audigy 2 (just installed)

ericeod helped me install this stuff, so everything was installed properly


any ideas guys???

its prob the sound card if you just installed it....did you use drivers off cd or from website?

temps all very low. oc is fine.

graphics card isnt clocked.. but i have a clocked file, but dont need it really just use it for benchmark

but i am using the guru3d drivers.. (beta.) maybe thats the prob, ill try that now.

Are there any updates/patches for the game that you can dl/install? It might be a quirk with COD4, and not a hardware problem...

maybe your right.... becasue.. i never reinstalled cod4.. just moved the file from my external hard drive (6.98gbs) to my program files on my c drive.


becasue i left the cd at ericeod's house.. and wsa too lazy to drive to get it..


just installed the latest drivers, and uninstalled the beta ones i got from 3dguru.

well c if that works, if not, im going to reinstall the game, 3rd step. sound card.
