Default $1500 Rig

What would you do with $1500 for a gaming rig?
I was thinking 8800GTS SLI with a 8400. Im not sure on the mobo though. Recommendations appreciated. I dont need an OS or any peripherials.

and if its for you would you reuse some of the parts on your rig now?

The GA-EP35-DS3R is a good choice if you aren't looking for SLI or Crossfire. Heard great things about them (I'm getting one), and they are great overclockers.

Its for the tread in my sig rig. Im not into gaming so once you get about $1000 I become quite clueless on what parts to buy. I am not up to date on the nvidia boards. Thats the main thing.

Just think of it as a completely new build with now old parts.

@GPA_Voltaire: interesting build, with a 3870x2. Would you recommend SLI if its in budget?

Do you think SLI would be good?
This is what I was thinking but its a little over $1500.

The biggest question is "What Mobo?"

We're literally days away from a new line of GPUs.

You should most definitely wait. The new ATI cards look great for your budget. Get a good x38 mobo, and 1 or 2 4870s. The 4870 should be 30-50% faster than a 9800gtx. (even with AA on), and will only run 329 at launch. They should be at around 200$ in a year, and that would be a great time to crossfire another one in.

Here's a good mobo to use.

go Sli if you can afford it, but I was going for price/performance and in that category the X2 can't be beat, if you go SLi get the evga 750iftw
