Default Overclocking my P4?

I wanna overclock my Pentium 4 because I'm tired of this slowass computer and I don't have the cash to buy a new computer. I filled in most of the stuff I know. I've already checked my BIOS but here comes my problem:

Upping the valeu's so that power increase goes from 3.00 to 3.01 already causes the computer to refuse to boot further then memory checks.

What to do?

What CPU do you have?

mpga478 is your socket, not the cpu model.

is that an ASRock P4i65G motherboard?

yes it is. It says UNtied overclocking on the package but so far I haven't noticed anything overclockable about it. What a scam.

try reinstalling your windows. that usually speeds it up. because as it looks to me you hav an old bugged up hard drive and you need 2 get some of that cleared up THEN O.C. your cpu.

Also all the O.C. is in the BIOS. you need to change the FSB around 2 overclock. But dont just raise the fsb change the Voltages 2!

Now if your PC is a OEM like DELL or HP or Gateway your bios wont let you OC,But it seems you have some OC options. But we need more info.Try downloading Everest home Edition and give us the spec's it shows you. Also Download cpuz

I recently reinstalled Server 2003 and my harddrive is next to empty now. And my registry is clean as a whistle too.

Pentium 4's get hot

Are you on the stock cooler?
If so, check to see if it's dusty, and if it is, use canned air to clean it out

They still sell a few S478 aftermarket coolers and if you can get one, that'd be awesome
