Thumbs up New budget upgrade

I want to upgrade my AMD machine to the intel q6600. so that means a new motherboard too. I'm on a budget so i'm hoping i can keep most of my old components.....Also i want to be able to push those numbers that i keep reading. I do some rendering as well as photoshop and other stuff so i want the best bang for the buck.
I think these components are what I am able to keep.
AGP Graphics Card
Case
Sound Card
wireless adapter
All drives; may upgrade HDD and transfer files....
Sound Card
Is a power supply that is cleared for use with a p4 good for the quad?

Components i will need...
CPU - q6600
Motherboard
Hard Drive
May upgrade to vista ultimate too - any opinions? i've waited since it came out, running xp, for them to fix all the bugs i've heard....any opinions from those running ultimate?

I'm looking for opinions on motherboards or tips on the upgrade....this will only be my second build so any tips are helpful

As far as the idea goes, your on the right track. The only things I have reservations about are your choice to stick with that AGP card and the P4 spec power supply. It is always a good idea to have a solid power supply, so I suggest to look at the specs of your current power supply (wattage, amps per rail, # rails, ect) and compare them to fellow OCN quad user's power supplies. As for the AGP idea, good luck finding a newer board that supports the LGA 775 socket AND AGP. Almost all new boards use PCI-E.
Just some ideas for you to mull over. Good luck with the upgrade.
