Hi overclocker,

I have been planing my gaming rig for about 2 week. I wanna to get the best out of my budget which is around US$1,600 excluding the monitor. My current monitor resolution is 1280 x 1024. Might change to a 22" monitor at 1680 x 1050. I prefer to play at full resolution and max detail with a little of Anti Aliasing without Anisotropic Filtering. I will be overclocking the CPU and RAM. The following is the component I have plan so far.

I am a pretty newbie to stuff like this. I will be grateful if you guys can give me some advice on my rig. I a little afraid that I will face some issue when building my rig due to component blocking component(etc. TRUE & Corsair DOMINATOR Fans) or insufficient of power etc.

from the looks of it should be a pretty sweet rig, but without the local price for parts can't really give you any extra suggestions...

however, you might want to consider the asus P5Q pro couple with radeon 4850 or 4870... this will allow for future crossfire upgrade. however in that case you might want to consider to juice up your power supply a bit.

Not sure if you can fit it in, but a gaming rig really should have a sound card. Sound is a big part of gaming and there's no onboard solutions that can decode as much sound (or of the same quality) as the current X-Fis. You'd miss out on the total experience if your onboard simply ignored some of the sounds because it's incapable of decoding them!

Im making one suggestion not that its a huge one and not that there are other pertinent ones that I may be missing but if you plan on overclocking your CPU and breaking 400mhz FSB you would be better off with ddr2-8500 ram or above simply so you wouldnt be overclocking your ram and possibly losing stability. I know that Corsair is a good name brand but its just my personal preference to underclock ram to rather than overclock it. Nice setup by the way, looks like this is gonna be a pretty sick gaming rig.

looks pretty good, but did you know there was an open box special on newegg. I know they have a AMD equivalent of that board but for intel I'm not sure.

and for only a little more you can get a 4850, and it does perform alot better than a 8800

I don't know if you just want a DFI motherboard or what. You might try a gidabite,like this

Looks like a nice rig. I can't speak to the fittings of those compenents, as I'm not familiar with them.

My piece of advice: if this is going to be a pure gaming rig (no video crunching or other processor-intensive tasks), I'd suggest you go with a higher speed dual core proc rather than a quad core. Higher GHz's are generally better for gaming than more cores, with a few exceptions (some RTS games take advantage of more than 2 cores).

You can get an e8400 for about the same price as the Q6600 -- you'll get 600 MHz more (3.0 vs 2.4). I recently purchased an e8400 and have it running at 4.0 GHz with just a bump to Vcore (just about to successfully finish an 8 hour Orthos test!). It's a sweet proc and overclocks like a charm.
