Except that I think you should replace the Freezer 7 with some other cooler, but otherwise it looks good... and about cases, imo it's a personal choice really so go with the one you want most.

Well, to be honest, since I'm using a Core 2 Duo, I really want to get the Freezer 7 Pro. I have a good amount of experience with it, and love its simplicity and effectiveness. I mean 24 idle temperature on a 65nm Core 2 with a 1Ghz overclock is great in my opinion. My target overclock is to get the E8500 to 4.0Ghz, which should be easy for the F7P. If I ever get a Quad, then I'll definitely look into something like the ThermalRight Ultra 120 eXtreme.

I definitely will! As soon as it all arrives, I'll put all the boxes next to each other and take photos. That 1000W PSU should be great for the future, when I decide to upgrade my graphics card.

The quads are only beaten in games at LOW resolutions. 1024x768 or so. At higher resolutions, they are pretty balanced.
__________________The memory kit you have chosen is expensive. The GeIL will overclock to those kind of levels, and is £30 cheaper. Don't buy two 2x1GB memory kits. Buy a single 2x2GB kit. An HX1000 is seriously overkill, you are going to use way under half of that power. Get the Xigmatek I recommended earlier. It is FAR better than the F7P, and doesn't cost much more. And it uses pushpins like the F7P, so it is an easy install. The hard drive that you have chosen is good. I still stick strongly to my last build.

An E8500 overclocked to 4.0Ghz+ will perform better in games for at least the next year than a Q6600 overclocked to 3.6Ghz+.
And the Xigmatek is not an "easy install". Installing the fan alone is a nightmare according to the reviews. Last edited by Jehan : 08-23-08 at 08:52 AM |
