I agree your rig right now with those clocks are good and an upgrade to an intel duo core @ 4ghz is not going to bring you big big improvements that you would expect.
You have 2 options: 1) Go for a Q9550 + an eVGa 7 series FTW mobo 2) wait for the new chips to be released in a month or so. Hope that clears up your questions about upgrading to what you currently have.

I'd say nothing now.
I also have around $400 saved up for upgrades, I'm waiting for the new Intel chips and motherboards. new cpu, mobo, and a bunch of DDR3

If he plans on keeping his 8800GT's for any length of time, then yes 3 PCI-E slots is a waste. And the 750i FTW is dual 16x, not 8x 8x.

Ehhh that is weird because Nvidia claims the 750i chipset to be 2x8.

Well if Nvidia claims that the 750i boards are only 2x8 wouldn't that mean the drivers are designed to be 2x8 and not 2x16? So wouldn't this mean you're paying the extra money to buy a 2x16 board but you'r limited to 2x8 because of the drivers?
