Well, I was happy. With my 8800GTX and gigabyte 965P mobo I had a nice solid system that still ran all games the way I wanted them.

Then I got hyped up about the 4870X2 and deceided to buy one, since I was planning on upgrading something anyways, and that seemed like the most performance for my money. I wanted to spend €400,- max this year on hardware, but I also wanted a TRUE to replace my zalman 9500, so combined with some extra casefans it was around 500 euro.

Well, when I got the card the first downside was that there was no molex to 8pin pci-e included with it, so I ended up ordering one from a store pretty far away so the total cost was around €20 for something that cost €3,50.

When I finally got it I found out the card was being bottlenecked by the PCI-e 1.0 port on the 965P mobo, and my psu made a noise harder than the X2 at 100% fanspeed when I was gaming, so I deceided to get a new PSU as well while I was at it. Asus P5Q-E and PCP&C 750watt psu: another €250,-

After some problems getting everything to work (turned out there was a screw hole screw thingy at the wrong place, shorting the mobo) I found out that my 3dmark06 score had still only increased 1k (15,3k) from before the new mobo, and crysis still runs crappier than with my 8800GTX. (with which I scored approx 12k). Not really worth a total of €750,- I'd say..

If I had known all this beforehand I would've bought myself a nice '22 inch LCD screen and a nice single card later on.. would've saved me quite some money, trouble and especially frustration.

But well, hopefully the drivers get better and make everything worthwhile in the long run... hopefully some other new games like FarCry 2 will perform better as well.

I'm perfectly happy and content with my rig as of right now . No problems running anything I throw at it, so why upgrade?

I'm never happy or satisfied. I'm always looking for that newer and faster part. I'm totally in the market right now for a new case, keyboard and better RAM. I hate my RAM. It's limiting my OC quite terribly.

I love my NEW computer except for the fact that my eVGA 780i needs to go to RMA for the 4th time for the same problem "instant FF". im debating between 780i FTW or 750i FTW motherboard now.
