Really, if you want DDR3 get it at mwave. Corsair has 4gb of 1600 for only 180$ not 250$.

If you want DDR2 look here.
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/index.hmx?

4gb of Crucial 1066 with timings at 4-4-4-12 for only 99$

2,000 for a computer?
You better be able to play any game on the planet at 60fps and above. Thats alienware prices right there.

Honestly I'm not 100% sure. x38 and x48 are better for overclocking quads I believe, but I wouldn't know what specific board to recommend. Obv it would be a DDR2 board, but other than that...
Someone will have a recommendation.

If you were to get that 790i, I would recommend getting the new 790i FTW Digital PWM instead.

2x new WD 640gb hard drives are more than fast enough, you simply don't need the velociraptor.

What you do need is data backup, drop that Velociraptor and grab you a 1.5TB drive and run some backup program to save all of your files

As for RAM, the core architecture doesn't use RAM efficiently, simply put, DDR3 is a waste of money.

Grab some good DDR2:

You could go with the 2x2 kit and get 8GB if you want, but the 1 gig sticks overclock better and generally are more reliable. I recommend 4x1GB sticks unless you do CG or photoshop work in a 64 bit environment.

Sure you don't really need a 300$ x48 mobo or a 1000w PSU, but if you're spending 2k on a comp. a bit of overkill is nothing to worry about. I don't recommend a 2nd 4870x2 though, quadfire kinda sucks.

Just use that extra $$ on a new mouse/monitor or whatever. Check out Roccat products if you want a nice keyboard/mouse/keyboard to go woth that new beast of a comp. (I don't know if the Roccat products are all out in the US yet, but they will soon)
