Personally, I wouldn't overclock a friend's or family member's PC. Too much of a hassle if you ask me. Every time something goes wrong with their PC, they'll blame it on the "overclock".

All nice.

Do you know if an X3 would be cheaper ? I guess not

Do you know if she'll need more space than that ?

I would say slap a 250gb hd in there and its good. For your first post, I was like your mother is lucky for getting a e8400 lol

Don't think she'll need 4gb of ram so might as well get 2gb. And tbh I think she'll need a bigger hardrive

Your mom's a really special person if you're buying this for her.

Although the E8400 and the motherboard is pretty overkill for her mild gaming, the E5200 and a Gigabyte DS3L will be perfect, and also cheap. The E5200 is really good at stock, don't be underestimating its power.

2GB is also enough, unless you want her to run 64-bit Vista/XP.

640 GBS for 79.99. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136218

the 4670 is overkill. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130316 - 8400 for 36.99 and 10 back through the mail. I have one in my mom's computer and it runs everything fine, runs dream scene and stays cool.

Also the 22" isn't overkill. That is the thing she is going to notice the most. She probably won't care that it has a wolfdale in it, lol but a 22" monitor is huge.

Do you need an OS to go along with the build?
