ok when i painted my case and installed everything i couldn't get my computer to start i was on the verge of sending the mobo back when i tried taking everything out and trying it just without the case mind you the mobo was on the mobo tray. it worked so i experimented and tried different thing i have to have the case sideways or else it will start and just die and if i move the fan to much or bang the table then it just wont start till i play around with the heat sink. sorry its late so its probably a little sloppy.

is your heatsink loose, definetly try to reseat it? Also like the poster said above maybe one of your standoffs is grounding out the mobo. try using clear finger nail polish on the screws and tops of the standoffs. (obviously pain the screws/standoffs and let them dry before using them
)

i resat the heatsink twice new paste both times. the mobo works with the tray inside the compute i have the mobo in the computer on the tray right now so i know its not the stand offs.

I'd recheck the heatsink mount. I bet the CPU is shutting itself off because of thermal protection; the heatsink isn't mounted securely, for whatever reason.
Hope that helps. ![]()

Are you sure that a cable isn't loose?
Eg. when you stand it up right it comes out of the socket or is too loosely in the socket

Prolly shorting somewhere make sure the mobo isn't touching anything, infact make sure nothing is rubbing up on something it shouldn't

Check all connections and make sure as Raider said nothing is contacting! Also is your heat sink flush to the CPU? I ask because if there ins't enough contact CPU will heat up pretty quick then self protect and shutdown (hopefully).

That could be a piece of loose metal in your PSU.
