Hi guys,
Bit of a newb about this kind of thing but ive done some research and heres what ive come up with. e8600, P5Q Pro, 4gb ddr2 1066 (corsair), sapphire 4870x2, 500gb hdd, thermaltake toughpower 750w. Not sure of a case, i dont want the 1200 as it is waaaay to large to be able to lug around to friends places, so mebe a 900? Ill try my hand at overclocking as well so getting an arctic cooling freezer 7 pro for the cpu. Can i get recommendations for the additional case fans? Cheers. |

Solid build there, however if you're spending that much on good gear, spend a little more on a CPU cooler. A Tuniq or TRUE would be best.

get an e8500 and save yourself like 100 dollars. especially if you are going to overclock it even a little bit. yea ^^^^^^ get a TRUE or a Tuniq tower. the only place i've found one is http://www.crazypc.com/products/ultr...eme-50983.html get it lapped and you are good for some solid overclocking. for a case, def get a 900. or a NZXT tempest if thats more your style.

Lapped means the bottom surface which touches the CPU gets a smooth bottom by sanding it with sandpaper. This will make the CPU cooler come in contact with the CPU more allowing it to cool down more.

Agreed with e8500 + better cooling.
It's not totally necessary to lap the CPU and cooler really. You're apparently new to building computers, so stick with the TRUE or TT120 for now.

That's a solid build. If you're looking for a minor upgrade, you should consider the Antec Signature 850W PSU $200. It received amazing reviews at Johnnyguru.com

yup. i wouldn't lap it myself if i were you but since the link i provided [the store] has an option for you to get it lapped by them, it would be a good spending of money(only like 20 bucks and since you are spending so much money any way, why not get it?) thats why i said get it lapped.
