Referring to the XPS Desktop

I love how it comes with a 6800 vanilla and the only upgrade option is the x850xt pe for 400 bucks more. Which dell recommends, which means it must be a better choice than say getting the 6800 vanilla, selling it for 100 bucks and getting a 7800gtx.

I got my first PC in 1994, it was a crappy Packard Bell 66mhz Pentium. I was always reading PC mags and saw the adds for Dell, they looked so nice and always where the editors choose for best PCs. I have since bought 3 Dell Desktops and 1 laptop. All of which are still running.
However my last purchase was the laptop. Reading these forums and talking with friends I have learned that it is far too easy to build your own system that will blow any Dell out of the water and for far cheaper too. Plus most of Dells componants are proprietory. I had to purchase a fan from Dell do to the fact of an error messege I kept getting when I booted up, I could buy a non dell fan but would still get messege. Also Dells customer support used to be 2nd to none, not anymore. A call to india to talk to a (cough cough) tech support person will be enough for anyone to consider building their own system.
Im in the process of building my first custom system with the help of all of you
