Ok are you using a program to burn with or doing the right click copy paste type?

i have tried both ways. i have went through about 15 cd's so far.

Do you have a spare HD lieing around? If so plug it into the system that works then copy the files to it remove it and plug it into the other as a secondary or slave drive to get the files off it.

could it be maybe just that the hard drive is messed up in general? i have another hard drive should i try it?

No its booting and running fine its just the files are not being read proper for some reason.
