okay so my buddy flashed a new version of bios to his mobo, and when he booted into windows it told him he had a new motherboard and needed another microsoft key. its an oem copy, and i know you cant switch mobos. but its only a bios flash so he wont have to buy windows again will he. and he doesnt want to use a copy from *rhymes with birate bay

and how can i get it to work

Call Microsoft if it doesn't want to activate, there is a phone number they give you in the activation screen.

No, you will not have to reinstall Windows. They will give you a reactivation code that you'll need to enter into the windowed prompt.

No worries mate, just call them and tell them he flashed his BIOS. They'll give him a new activation code. Pain in the A$$, but it works fine.
Edit: they will walk him through it, it's dead simple.

well he tries to boot and said he gets a bsod and it reboots. so what should we do, and now hes saying its been loading windows for like 13 minutes with nothing, and i dont really know what to try.

yep, i mean iw asnt there, but he had the kid who built his computer do it for him, and hes sposed to be pretty good with computers.

windows si touchy. it doesnt like new mobos or new mobo bios (comes up like new mobo anyway)

just call ms, tell them he swapped the mobo out andn ow windoze is crying about activating, and they'll give you numbers to spew at windoze to make it happy again...
