I have the Gigabyte 650i motherboard in my sig and have been having some problems.
First the NB was getting very hot and I thought that was causing the problems. I put a fan on the NB and it stopped freezing in the BIOS. I had to use another HDD as my main drive would not work without a format and I have 320GB of data on it so a format was out of the question. I installed windows xp and can occasionally get to the login screen, once I login the computer freezes. I have updated the BIOS to the most recent one, can anyone think of any voltages I could play with or something I could do to keep it from freezing. The motherboard, CPU, and RAM were all tested in other rigs so they are not causing the problem. I have reset the CMOS countless times as well as pulling the CMOS battery for a few minutes

I would be a little suspicious of the motherboard. How is that you checked the mobo and took it off the list of usual suspects?

It was tested by the previous owner, I have tried multiple formats on my spare HDD, numerous installs of XP. I am downloading the W7 beta now to see if my computer just doesn't like my XP disk.
I have Vista but cannot find the CD for the life of me, hence why I am using XP

I always blame the PSU 1st.

make sure the ram is runnign at rated voltage and timings as well in bios. and that the cpu isnt undervolted.
also if the cpu is overheating then it can cause freezings

I will try my spare PSU to see if that makes a difference

Agreed with all of the above, tho i would definitely recommend getting Windows 7 one way or another, and actually, 7 fixed a problem with a little AMD 4200 X2 that xp would not work with no matter what i did
so definitely give that a shot as well

ram runs at 1.8v, all voltages are set manually in BIOS so I am good there, spare PSU doesn't seem to be making a difference

I wouldn't suggest running Windows 7 live (as your main OS) yet since it is still in beta.
I'd try a different hard drive while your at it. The hard drive may be at fault if the PSU is not.
