Default Windows XP Problem on Intel... ?
I am trying to install Windows XP Pro on my brothers computer because his 30 day activation thing expired... we didn't activate his XP within 30 days but now he has a new copy of XP...

I put the cd in and boot the computer but nothing happens. It is almost like the computer has no BIOS or something now. All I see if a message saying check signal cable which is always there as long as the screen is up.

So what should I do? Do I need to re-insall his HP bios?

Computer is HP Pavilian a645c, +rep for help.

If you're getting a CHECK SIGNAL CABLE then your moniotor cable is not in all the way,GFX card needs reseated,Or you have a bios problem,I'd check the first 2 and reset the CMOS and see what you get.

Follow this link and it will guide you through resetting your CMOS.

Scroll about half way down the page for the CMOS reset.

It's gotta be video-related. Even if the 30-day activation period expires, you can still boot Windows to an activation screen, and you don't have to re-install.

Doesn't sound like a Windows error to me. Just a BIOS or physical problem.
