Default Upgrade or wait?

What do you think I should do? Specs are in the sig.

I was planning on getting i7 next week, but i just cant justify dropping $700+ cad when I only game.

i don't know what I should do. Here are some things I was thinking of doing

Get a E8400 and OC it to 4.0ghz along with 4gb of ram
or
Buy a Samsung 24" monitor
or
Spend all my money on a i7 setup
or.. get a decent Q6600 G0/9550 and hope for 4.0ghz?

If I don't get i7 now, ill be getting it around the summer.

I just want to eliminate my GTX 295 bottleneck >_>

I'd say a monitor or probably a CPU you have listed. Your system is fine, but either of those upgrade can benefit you.

I have to agree on the better CPU, I would say try to get your hands on a q9550 or 9650 and OC it as much as you can. I didn't know a 3.4Ghz quad bottlenecked a GTX296 or SLI 260s/280s

it dosent bottleneck that much, but 4.0ghz would be alot better lol

only thing stopping me from getting a Q9550 is that it costs $339 here.. :s

Definitely, haha. I'm debating the same. I want a Q9650 just for the reason of hitting 4.0GHZ even though it is no guaranteed. Wouldn't hurt to try, right? I think there is a forum member here selling their Q9550 E0. Might want to PM that individual about it.

just wait, even if you have a bottleneck , be serious you can throw just about any game at your system and run it maxed without problems

so i'd say wait, by next sumer we weill have much better hardware on sale, and the current ones will be much cheaper
