Guys, my one [sig rig] is not POSTing.
![]() I had problems with it before as well, and it was just graphics artifacting. It'd do other things, even Prime95 and F@H just fine. So I thought it was just the GPU, and after trying to solve the problem by applying some AS5, I gave up. I ran MemTest as well, but it would go fine. Now, the system won't even post. I was able to solve it, bizarrely, by putting the RAM in a different socket and it'd boot up and work (with the artifacts not going away). Nothing I do can make it POST and give a monitor signal now. It turns on with the 8800GT at 100% fan for 8 seconds (approx.) then turns of for 5 seconds and then turns on and continues to be on (8800GT still at 100% fan) indefinetely. I've tried clearing CMOS and replacing the RAM. I'm afraid to run out of thermal goo so I didn't replace the CPU yet. And I don't have a spare mobo. ![]() Any help would be enormously appreciated

Have you removed EVERYTHING except for the CPU and 1 stick of RAM? Boot it up, listen for the post code. If it gives you one (possibly 'no video' if any) interpret the code using the manual, then put the video card in next and boot again if it's 'no video'.
__________________Only things that should be connected: - One stick of RAM (Try different slots each time and different RAM sticks if it fails to give you a post code) - CPU + Fan (plugged in of course) - PSU (plugged into mobo)

Is it beeping at all? If a e beeping code exists then your cpu should be able to post. Not far away from an FF (Fully functional) code then.
__________________And how is the power button reacting? Do you have to keep pushing the power button for 5 sec for to turn it off? Or just one fast push? If you have to push down the button for 5 sec then you got contact with the motherboard and cpu. If it turns off and on automatically then there is a short on your motherboard, also it could be a damage ram brick or cpu that makes the short. As a guess I think it's your ramslot since you were able to post on another slot.

Good advice. But my mobo doesn't have onboard graphics, nor does it have a built-in buzzer, just a connector for one. And I don't have a spare graphics card.
![]() However, I have a spare mobo/RAM/C2D lying around, will try replacing in the afternoon, see what happens.

And it turns off and on automatically (in the pattern I mentioned above) but I can interrupt it anytime by pressing the pwr button for 5 sec. to turn it off.

The board could be dying, but it could also be the videocard since it's artifacting and all.

I managed to get a spare board (P5S-MX SE, not much but good for testing
) and found me RAM to be dead, and video card to be dying. Not sure if the moboard was dead, but sent it to warranty for good measure. Currently running with integrated graphics (the shame, the horror ) and an E6420 until I get a response.

Turns out mobo, graphics and RAM all dead.
![]() Board even came back with a new PCI-E slot from Asus under warranty but still refused to boot.
