I'm wondering if people can help me with a few questions. I'm going to be doing a few upgrades to my system in the upcoming weeks.
First off, which would be best out of these three coolers. - OCZ Vendetta 2 - Scythe Mugen 2 - Scythe NINJA 2 Also I'm going to be pickip up two new harddrives to replace my loyal (but aging) 7200.9s 160Gb's. I'm looking at WD Black 500Gb's but as I've had such great success with Seagates I'm wondering if Seagate makes an equally performing 32mb cache harddrive that I could use instead. Last but not least, I need a better cooler for my vanilla 4850, it's too darn loud and the 115C load temps are starting to worry me. I'm buying all my parts at Canada Computers, if you can find a compatible cooler for the card awesome. http://www.canadacomputers.com/index...d=pl&id=FN.251 Rep+ for help, of course.

-OCZ Vendetta 2- blocked ram slots on my M/B
- Scythe Mugen 2- know nothing about it - Scythe NINJA 2- No PWM fan functions I would opt for the OCZ heatsink though. I would need to find out about the hard drive but the Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 - Hard drive - 750 GB - internal - 3.5" - SATA-300 - 7200 rpm - buffer: 32 MB might be what your after. cant help you with the cooler apart from to say "water cooling"

Thanks for the post, I'm aware of the Vendetta 2 as I've used it for a few different friends computers also I would never go with water cooling, too much maintenance.

I have a mugen 2, great cooler, keeps my Q6600 cool at 3.2G/1.41V. It came with a pwm fan that runs very quiet at 900rpm, and it is not really that noisy at 1300rpm however I might not be able to heat it among 5 other case fans I have. Only thing to take note of is that your northbridge heatsink is not obstructive like mine, or you will be forced to install it in the "wrong" direction and end up blocking 2 ram slots. However I am fortunate since my "short PCB" Kingston 2G sticks fit just under the heatsink fins blocking the slot. I bought it with the prospect of upgrading to LGA1366 platform in mind.

i'd say go with the ocz cooler, its modeled after the xigmatek tower coolers and they work great. never had a seagate but if you are looking at western digital i've never had any problems with the ones i've had, they keep on working fine and i've got one thats at least a few years old and still running almost like new.

The OCZ would be my choice for reasons stated above, and the Mugen is a big hsf,but if that isn't a issue for you then either of these two would do the trick. As for the HDD's go with the WD's they won't give you any problems.

the only problem with the vendetta is that it doesnt come with a bolt thru kit. it uses push pins. so if you brought the vendetta 2, you will have to buy a rentention kit too. the mugen 2 performs alittle better and comes with the backplate. and it should be cheaper than the vendetta with rentention kit.

Okay so it looks like I'll be going with the Mugen 2 but not really sure yet on the other questions.

I'd still say go with the OCZ Vendetta but there all good coolers so w/e you like.
Your best bet with HDDs is WD, there just as good if not a tad bit better than seagate. I have experience with aftermarket cooling, sorryz
