at around 3.6 you will start to see some good increases in performance. Even at 3.2 you will see some. I noticed that my boot times went form around 45-50s to 30-40 at 3.4 and to about 30-35 at 3.6 so your good.

There is a max voltage for your chip, and as long as you don't go over the max volts or excede temps, you will be fine. You can overclock as much as you want while staying within the recommended voltages. Just ask people who have the same chip and board for help. You probably will not get any data loss, that only happens if an overclock fails, and I am sure you wont get corruption. One time when I was pushing for 4ghz I bsod and my time and date got messed up, but that is easily fixed, so don't worry.

Yes you should overclock!!!

geez, calm down tiger. People can't take a joke these days...

you asked what are you here for if not overclocking? Well people are here for plenty of reasons other than overclocking.

When it comes to gaming, I noticed little to no difference in gaming benchmarks when I went from 2.4 to 3.4 ghz on my Q660, I only noticed some increase when I went to SLI at 3.4 ghz comapred to 2.4 ghz, the only game that benefitted at all from the 1000mhz overclock was Grand Theft Auto 4, it got 10 more FPS in the benchmark and game play is much smoother, that game is CPU dependant and uses about 70-80% of 3 cores all the time.

No, this entire site and all the sites like it, and all of the thousands of forum members around the world are complete morons who waste all their time and never notice any performance increase after spending thousands of dollars on equipment.
