yeah in my opinion its worth it
for example i oc for the first time today and my in game performance is smoother and my benchmark in 3dmark06 went from 9661 at 2.6ghz to 10968 at 3.00ghz

Yes, but 3dmark06 is really CPU dependent, but in real gaming it's different. Also your CPU is a bottleneck for your card, so you will see a decent boost if you overclock. The OP hasn't got a real bottleneck. But I have to agree with all the others that overclocking will give you a nice boost in performance, but it won't be really noticable at every game.

I went from an E2200 @3.4GHz to a Q9550 @3.9GHz well that difference was noticeable (around 15-20FPS ) , but overclocking my E2200 gave me only like 4-5FPS boost overall.

That seems right according to your system. I got 13k with my Q9550 at stock and one 9800GTX+ in. Your 3dmark06 score will increase if you OC your CPU, but that performance gain won't be really noticable in games. To check if I've got a bottleneck, I run Vantage and check if my GPU score improves if I OC the CPU.

I would still overclock the CPU though, because you will notice a difference at overal computing, and there is always a performance gain. It won't be as much as with pcnoob1 though.
