Default $2000 build for everything...suggestions, please :)

Anybody willing to help out? A friend wants to build a new computer, and has a 2k budget for everything, and that means monitor/keyboard/mouse/headphones as well I guess. For that kind of money I figured he could probably go i7, but I haven't gone intel in a long time so I'm not sure what's hot. If you wanna just link to newegg parts or builds that would be great (i'll check other sites like zipzoomfly to see if parts are cheaper). Thanks for any suggestions or advice!

Oh, just for the shopping side of it: also check out Google Shopping (or, "Google Product Search", as they call it). It doesn't find everything, but it's certainly extremely helpful.

That way, you can shop for every single part and save!

you could do an I7 rig with a GTX 295 and a nice 24" samsung LCD. Might wanna just get the win7 rc1 and wait til win 7 retail comes out in 4 months and then buy that.

It is indeed necessary for you to have an account with Newegg in order to make a Wish List that is viewable by everyone, including those who do not have an account.

Here's an old wishlist I made, ,it doesn't inlude headphones though.
~$1850 i7

Just a baseline of what you could go with.

Don't buy "Gaming" headphones. Get these Senheiser HD-555s and a clip on mic

Well, I think so. But it said the wish list is empty. And it brought me to my private Wish Lists area.

My sig rig is pretty close. I think it might be $2100 (when I bought it (Excluding software)). Prices came down, you can downgrade the GTX295, get a smaller case ETC. Pretty sufficient budget.

Funny how I'm trying to get rid of it..
