I can't believe how much people giving advice here that rely base on what they read and actually don't even have the gpu cards to back it up. 4890 is a bit faster but I feel that 280 or 275 is more fluid on the games I played. ie prototype and crysis.

275 is neck and neck with the 4890 and slightly better than a 4890 in some games because most games are optimized for nvidia (do you ever see "Ati - the way its meant to be played?")

the 4890 is an overclocking gorilla and will probably take over even in nvidia optimized games though

just pick whatever you like more nvidia or ati

275 offers Physx and better folding
4890 is mostly cheaper and handles AA better.

The one is green
The other is red

Have fun

ATI (3 letters), Nvidia (6 letters). Isn't more always better.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid..._22.html#sect0

lotsa others out there and i don't want to waste my time into digging them all. just search for a review from a not so known site

this is why physx fails and why "what she said is about"
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3539&p=7
in other words, an inside job that has to do with the outcome of once reputable reviews and benchmark sites like guru3d, toms and a lot of out there including the one in your links.

if you google around, you'll find some nvidia punishing related articles like this:
http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/...viewers-gts250

and i really wish you read the news that nvidia is somehow punishing those reviewers that doesn't seem comply with them.

so if you really see the not so famous review sites, you'll have them winning the 4800 series most of the time. nvidia's only right now is the 295 with a ridiculous pricepoint.

go figure now

Potential customer: What is the meaning of life?
nVidia representative: PhysX, as seen in next-gen games like Batman:Arkham Asylum, PhysX makes your g200 based card BETTER than the 58XX series in all aspects. You'd be an idiot to buy ATI when you'd be forfeiting physX

Not really. Maybe the 512 version.

Some of the ones posted earlier in this thread. Granted they're at much higher resolutions than most people use.

Aside from that I compared my 4870XXX to an i7 rig with a 295, SLI disabled. I was VERY surprised to see that the 295 at the same settings w/ 16xQSAA did considerably worse than my 4870. 29fps compared to 17. Granted with SLI enabled it did considerably better, but the again he also had 2 of them. But it was still remarkably low considering the price of the hardware.
Anyway, if I'm not mistaken the 295 is basically 2 275's. And that was a "real world" test not some benchmark. So based on that,I'd go with a 4890.
